Description
Rangpur Community Medical College
Rangpur Community Medical College originated from the visionary dream of Dr. Md. Mofizuddin Sarker, a native of Lalmonirhat, Bangladesh, who aimed to provide top-tier medical education and establish a model hospital for the underprivileged in North Bengal. In 1975, Dr. Mofizuddin Sarker initiated a private clinic named Nazimuddin Poly Clinic in Rangpur, the first of its kind in North Bengal. Following his demise, his family and other enthusiasts in Rangpur established 100-bed Doctors Community Hospital (Pvt.) Ltd. in 2000, led by his worthy son, Mr. Md. Nazmul Ahsan Sarker.
To address the growing demand for dental surgeons, Rangpur Dental College commenced its honorable journey in 2001 as the first private dental school in North Bengal under the management of Doctor Community Hospital (Pvt) Ltd. This dental institution attracts students from various regions of Bangladesh and neighboring countries such as Nepal, India, and the Maldives. Recognizing its outstanding performance, the Ministry of Health, Government of Bangladesh, awarded Rangpur Dental College as "the best private dental college."
Building on the success in healthcare and dental education, the management obtained approval from the Ministry of Health in 2008 to establish Rangpur Community Medical College. The first batch of 50 students commenced their 5-year MBBS course in the 2008–2009 academic year, and in 2012, the Ministry of Health increased the seat capacity to 100 based on the institution's extensive campus, modern infrastructure, and academic excellence. RCMC is dedicated to producing quality doctors equipped with both medical knowledge and ethical standards, committed to serving the people of North Bengal and the rural community.
